There is a grassroots effort to bring Trader Joe's to the Lake Highlands Town Center. The Town Center is that big development project started at Walnut Hill and Skillman. They need an anchor store. Trader Joe's would be a perfect fit for this part of town and for that development. If you've never been to a Trader Joe's, it is a small specialty grocer that carries lots of organic and gourmet foods at a very affordable price. Think Central Market but cheap! They have devoted followings wherever they have stores - they have a different business model from your standard grocery store and treat their employees very well. This kind of store would be a huge draw for our part of town and would inject much-needed energy into the Town Center. In short, it would be good for the neighborhood!
Since this is a grassroots campaign, here's what you can do:
2. The most important thing you can do is sign the petition. We're hoping to get 10,000 signiatures by July 4th. Go to any of these Lake Highlands businesses to show your support for Trader Joe's!!!
